Either way, the NECVA is guaranteed a first-time champion as each school will make its first appearance in the title match. Vassar (24-6) posted two more sweeps to advance to the finals, knocking off 9 Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the quarterfinals (30-27, 30-22, 30-22) and host and 5 Ramapo College in the semifinals (30-25, 30-21, 30-26), after RCNJ had eliminated defending champion Stevens Institute of Technology. Newbury (31-9) needed to work a bit harder to reach its first title match. The Nighthawks survived 3 Nazareth College in the quarterfinals, 3-2 (25-30, 30-28, 30-22, 24-30, 15-13), before eliminating 10 Eastern Mennonite University, a finalist the last two years, 3-1 (30-23, 21-30, 30-28, 30-20). The title contest will actually be a rematch of the regular season finale as Vassar outlasted Newbury in Poughkeepsie on March 29, 3-2 (30-28, 26-30, 30-22, 26-30, 15-12).

JERSEY CITY, NJ&amp;hellip; After nearly 1,000 regular-season matches, the 2008 North East Collegiate Volleyball Association has announced the field of 16 which will compete for the 2008 NECVA Championship from Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6 at Ramapo College&amp;rsquo;s Bill Bradley Center in Mahwah, NJ.
